GEM STAGE
Children playing in the streets, shopkeepers behind their stalls, young people looking for work, artists exploring the boundaries of their expression. A city where time stands still but where we yet live in the present. Thomas Noël takes advantage of this "now" to enter the streets and houses of Tehran and listen to the music of his projectThe City Song. In collaboration with local artists, The City Song aims to create a contemporary, musical and visual portrait of the city, a new kind of journalism with music as language and images as media. Thomas' companions for this edition are Soroosh Gharahmanloo, a tall man with an epic beard and well-known in Iran as a musician and setar singer and Farnoosh Khodadadeh, who emigrated to Belgium for love and now performs on her Iranian drum. Together with filmmaker Jonatan Lyssens, they also filmed the whole thing and created a visual story that complements, counterbalances and comments on the music. You can discover this unique project on Saturday in Brosella!
