The current crisis hits our jazz musicians, as well as other artists, really hard.
But the Belgian jazz scene is dynamic, resilient and supportive.
Bel Jazz Fest is proof of that. With this online festival, the programmers of 11 established festivals present an extraordinary cross-section of the Belgian scene. The concerts will take place in the halls of Flagey, one of the main jazz venues in Belgium.
The unique Flagey building may be the physical location from where all the concerts will be streamed, but jazz.be is where it happens for the audience. For only 15 euros (and the possibility to donate), the visitor receives access to the full line-up: a carefully assembled group of artists that represent the best Belgian jazz has to offer nowadays.
North and South, young talents and well-respected stalwarts, men and women, both familiar and experimental sounds. All connected by the language of musical improvisation.
Belgian jazz is alive!
The Belgian jazz festivals, with support from Stilletto PRoductions, JazzLab and VI.BE, send out a strong signal: Belgian jazz is alive and needs your support. And we are: BRAND! Mechelen, Brosella, Brussels Jazz Festival, Brussels Jazz Weekend, Jazz à Liège, Gaume Jazz Festival, Gent Jazz, Jazz Brugge, Jazz Middelheim, Leuven Jazz and Tournai Jazz Festival.
We are all anxiously awaiting the ‘real’ live experiences, but here is an opportunity to support the musicians (as well as the technicians, suppliers,…) in the interim.
Diversity and high-quality streaming…
The organisers of Bel Jazz Fest present a bountiful, multicoloured program:
De Beren Gieren, An Pierlé Quartet, Nordmann, Jean-Paul Estiévenart Quartet, Bram De Looze, Compro Oro, Esinam, DJ AliA, Tuur Florizoone, schntzl, Mâäk Quintet, Antoine Pierre Urbex Electric, Kurt Van Herck Trio, The Brums, Manuel Hermia Trio, Anneleen Boehme, Eve Beuvens, Casimir Liberski Trio, Commander Spoon, Lubiana, Karen Willems, Glass Museum, Nabou and Bert Cools!
Both nights, the concerts will start at 18:00h.
From six different locations in the Flagey building (hygiene measures!), all with impeccable acoustics, the concerts – occasionally overlapping – will be streamed in high audio and image quality. Some concerts will be pre-recorded. Visitors can switch from one stage to another and chat with other viewers. Ticket-holders will not miss anything, as the content (all performances!) will be available for one week after the festival.
The organisers have the intention to keep this platform active after the festival, to promote our diverse jazz scene nationally and abroad.

We regret to have to announce you that the 44th edition of the Brosella Festival has been cancelled.
Our team anticipated several scenarios and until the last moment we hoped to avoid this decision. However, in current times of uncertainty and following the measures announced by the government this week, this was our only option.
Of course, we hope that the situation will have improved by July, but we can’t afford to take any risks.
We want to wish courage to you, our loyal audience, our dedicated volunteers, our partners, as well as all those who support our festival directly or indirectly.
The cancellation of the festival will be hard for our team and for all our volunteers, who commit themselves every year with inexhaustible energy in order to make our festival a special moment of the Brussels summer.
Above all, this cancellation will inevitably have serious financial consequences not only for us, but also for all the artists who would have performed at the festival, our partners and suppliers. We are trying to find solutions to support them, especially our local artists for who our festival often represents their first big stage.
We were so looking forward to present you our new programme, which – like every year – is made up of renowned national and international musicians as well as promising young and local talents. We were so happy to meet you again in July for the 44th consecutive year around this magnificent green theatre in Osseghem Park!
Let’s keep this desire alive and let’s meet again next year!
We will have twice as much time to prepare an even more beautiful edition of our magnificent little festival. In the meantime, we wish you all the best!
